Sub-Zero Wolf Inc. needed a different mechanism to retain subject matter expertise in improving and managing the SAS® solution server environment.  Sub-Zero utilizes the SAS Warranty Analysis solution to improve their manufacturing processes by discovering product defects in half the time. SAS Warranty Analysis offers general users specific reporting capabilities via a web interface, SAS analysts have access to the same data through SAS® Enterprise Guide®, and the system automatically submits email alerts when patterns are discovered. "A lot of companies are still in that reactive state, where you're basically looking at data after the fact, trying to figure out what happened in the past and then reacting to it," says David Bien, Corporate Director of Reliability. "With SAS, we can be more proactive. We can keep an eye on a specific series of events, and the system will automatically send e-mail notifications if, statistically, even the most minute issue might have occurred."

CSOSA improves efficiency by matching supervisory strategies to individual offenders

The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) is a federal executive branch agency responsible for supervising over 15,000 parolees, supervised releases and probationers in the District of Columbia. The agency is using technology to turn its data into assets, and has created a highly sophisticated offender risk assessment application to meet its public safety mission more effectively. In honor of CSOSA’s innovative use of data, the agency was awarded the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Award for Government at the 2008 SAS Executive Conference for Government. “Technology is vital to our mission and to our ability to protect the public,” said CSOSA Director Paul Quander. “A good decision means having access to the right data at the right time."

Using SAS, the North Carolina Office of State Personnel (NC OSP) channels multiple information sources into a single repository via the North Carolina Workforce Outlook and Retirement Knowledge System (NC WORKS) data integration system. With easy access to so much data, the state can then leverage advanced business analytics to predict employee turnover and the availability of qualified candidates needed to fill those openings.
